Abstract:

Anomaly statistics at a given site are first assessed through Bayesian methodology on the basis of site exploration data. Several methods may be then used to incorporate the anomaly uncertainties in the overall reliability evaluation of geotechnical performance. The applicability of each method is demonstrated among foundation settlement, progressive slope failure, pile capacity and soil excavation problems.
