Abstract:

During the past 15 years, there has been a considerable growth in the use of various materials to reinforce soils. The rapid development of geosynthetics and their increasing use in soil reinforcement have stimulated research on the interaction of geosynthetics with different types of soils. This paper presents a synthesis of the available experimental data obtained by different investigators using a variety of pull-out boxes. The study is focused on evaluating the effect of the fundamental parameters, which include the type of soil, the material properties, geometry and structural aspects of the inclusion, and the testing apparatus, on the interaction properties and the pull-out resistance.
