Abstract:

This paper summarizes the feasibility of increasing the generating capacity of the Robert Moses Niagara Power Plant by replacing the turbine runners, upgrading the generators, and replacing or modifying other equipment. The benefits from an upgrade of the Robert Moses Plant and an expansion of the associated Lewiston Pump Generating Plant include increased generation during peak-demand periods, production cost savings to consumers, and the addition to the system of about 330 MW of firm capacity.
