Abstract:

A computer program is presented to calculate the blade trunnion reactions in Kaplan turbines. The program calculates the trunnion reactions for operation of the turbine at steady state power production and changing power conditions. Under changing power conditions, the calculation becomes indeterminate by direct substitution and is solved by an iterative method.
