The Sidney A Murray Jr. Hydroelectric Project is being designed and constructed by EBASCO Services Inc. for the City of Vidalia (La) - Catalyst, Old River Hydroelectric Ltd Partnership. It is a 192 MW, run of the river, low head power station located in the State of Louisiana at the U. S. Army Corp of Engineers' Old River Control Project. The powerplant, equipped with eight bulb turbines, will use a portion of the water currently diverted from the Mississippi River to the Red/Achafalaya Rivers through the structures of the Old River Control Project. The eight turbines will discharge up to a total of 150,000 cfs and the operating head will vary from 8 to 20 feet.
