Abstract:

The paper describes the current status of hydropower development in Egypt and its future prospects. Emphasis is made on reviewing the potentialities for small, mini and micro-hydropower generation. The study explores both the technical and economic feasibility of adapting standardized turbogenerators, at different favourable sites for future exploitation. Furthermore the use of non-convertional type of turbines, especially for mini and micro ranges and where very low and ultra heads prevail, is focussed upon.
