Abstract:

The current license for the Pensacola Hydropower Project (orginally licensed in 1939) will expire in 1988. The relicensing process for the project currently is underway. During the consultation process, concerns have been raised regarding the continuing direct and indirect impacts of project operation on threatened and endangered species, fish, wildlife, water quality, and recreation. This paper discusses the concerns that have been raised, field investigations that have been implemented, and the alternative measures that have been proposed for mitigation and/or enhancement.
