Abstract:

Hydropower development and management in an era of uncertainty is the theme of this Waterpower '87 conference and reflects the current mood of the U. S. hydropower development industry after a decade of rebirth, growth, and now uncertainty about the future. This paper summarizes the present status of hydropower development and the major uncertainties that face developers today. It presents the author's opinions regarding future project development, future advances in hydropower technology, and possible changes within the U. S. hydropower development industry.
