by Carl E. Kurt, Univ of Kansas, Lawrence, KS, USA,

Document Type: Proceeding Paper

Part of: Microcomputer Applications in Transportation II

Abstract:

Before microcomputers can be useful to those officials responsible for rating the approximately 576,000 bridges in this country, software systems must be developed to analyze and rate simple truss bridges and continuous girder bridges. This type of system is presented. Computer graphics were utilized to assist the user. Numerous rating trucks are supported. The analysis methods were chosen to minimize computer resources. A wide variety of output related to bridge behavior is presented. A comparison of run times on several types of microcomputers is presented.
