Maintenance Tracking With a Micro-Mainframe System

Abstract:

This system at Metro-North, called the Equipment Maintenance Information System (EMIS), contains defect/repair data for both scheduled and running repair maintenance. The primary on-line report using this data is the Car History Record. Status codes are used to indicate the proper state of maintenance requirements from scheduled to shopped to completed maintenance tasks. EMIS customers within the Mechanical Department for both the Ad hoc and on-line reporting include the Technical Support Group, Quality Control/Engineering Group, as well as shop floor maintenance managers. The micro interface allows for preparation of exceptional statistical and analytical studies. If the resultant reports are deemed to be of recurring value they are prototyped on the micro and ported to the mainframe.
