This paper presents a checklist of questions concerning facets of transportation modeling software packages. This is intended to help the potential software purchaser in his or her search. From this list he or she should be able to establish some notion of relative importance or weights for his or her specific situation. The major areas of consideration are the modeler's needs; cost; flexibility; power; maintenance; user friendliness; user support; general acceptance; communication with other databases; system integration and comparison tests.
