Abstract:

This paper presents the design philosophy and program intelligence used in EZ-TRANSYT and EZ-SIGOP, powerful multi-window input data managers for TRANSYT-7F and SIGOP-III, respectively. Both input manager programs are designed with the same user interface so that a user familiar with one program can use the other without any difficulty. These programs abandon the traditional link-node numbering system in favor of the directional notations for network construction and traffic data entry. The user-friendly POSIT/SOAP-type phase coding schemes are used to input the phase sequence and timing data. On-line phase diagrams and manuals are always available to assist the user. In order to generate an error-free data deck, these programs always perform comprehensive error checking to insure the accuracy and consistency of the data.
