Abstract:
Land use planners as well as planners from other disciplines use overlays for site analysis but these are usually a qualitative display. Recently the advent of spread sheets coupled with micro-computers has produced an explosive growth, mainly in accounting applications. However, spread sheet methodology also shows promise in Engineering fields. This paper explains how both of these popular tools may be combined to give Agricultural Engineers a better method of site planning and selection. It also shows how the numerical power of spread sheets can provide the planner with an economic analysis of the project area.
