Evaluation of Methods to Determine Peak Period Irrigation Water Requirements

by Michael T. Savage, CH2M Hill, Santa Ana, CA, USA,

Document Type: Proceeding Paper

Part of: Steel Structures

Abstract:

Methods for estimating the peak period irrigation water requirement were evaluated as a component of the review of irrigation facility sizing criteria conducted for the Engineering and Research Center of the U. S. Bureau of Reclamation. The review study addressed the sensitivity of the irrigation water requirement to variation in its components: usable soil moisture equations for crop water requirement, and effective prescription. The sensitivity of the irrigation water requirement to the frequency method used was also addressed.
