Abstract:

The U. S. Department of the Interior has embarked on a series of reconnaissance level investigations throughout the western states to identify and assess potential irrigation-induced water quality problems. A series of water, sediment, and biological samples are being analyzed for selenium and 16 other trace elements, as well as a number of pesticides. Nine studies in seven states are underway currently and 10 additional locations for study have been identified.
