Abstract:

Precipitation and streamflow records are considered basic for all hydrologic studies, and are an important product of water research projects in the Agricultural Research Service (ARS). Special programs for making the resulting data and information available to all users are the responsibility of the Water Data Center (WDC), a subgroup of the Hydrology Laboratory of ARS. This paper discusses the development of the systems that WDC uses to standardize, store, safeguard, retrieve, and disseminate hydrologic data collected by ARS.
