Abstract:

The paper discusses potential sources of financing for irrigation improvements and outlines many methods for securing funds. Irrigators who are in need of funds to improve or repair their system can obtain those monies if they are patient and persistent. They should begin planning for projects well ahead of the time when funds are required so that all options can be considered which include: applications to funding agencies, identification of possible partners, discussions with bankers, and increased assessments (or taxes) to develop a capital fund to pay for all or part of the work.
