Abstract:

Irrigation scheduling uses evapotranspiration data to recommend the time and amount of the next irrigation on a field by field basis. System scheduling minimizes the cost of water deliveries in large distribution systems by combining the irrigation schedules with the physical constraints of the delivery system and possibly financial incentives from limiting electrical demand for irrigation pumping. Examples of system scheduling for different types of irrigation systems are presented.
