CAD Trials
by Joseph F. Koenen, Consulting Engr.; Mt. Prospect, IL,Serial Information: Civil Engineering—ASCE, 1987, Vol. 57, Issue 6, Pg. 59-61
Document Type: Feature article
Abstract:
The solo practitioner is, for many reasons, at a disadvantage when it comes to analyzing and selecting CAD system components. Trade magazine how-to articles are generally geared toward the larger firm with the resources to explore all the alternatives and the clout to make vendors live up to their promises. Lone practitioner CAD shoppers must beware of the vendor who makes overly optimistic claims about a system's speed, software programs with hidden bugs, buying imcompatible CAD components, and plotter pen problems.
