Design of Waste Containment Structures

Document Type: Proceeding Paper

Part of: Geotechnical Practice for Waste Disposal '87

Abstract:

Synthetic liners, also known as flexible membrane liners (FMLs), have been used increasingly since the early 1970s to contain chemical and hazardous wastes because of their low permeability and long-term resistance to chemical attack from these wastes. This paper focuses on the approach and procedures used for design of liner components associated with geosynthetics.
