Abstract:
The Liberty State Park Development Corporation was formed to create public/private partnerships to develop this 750 acre urban park, which lies just 1750 feet from the Statue of Liberty. The Corporation will lease land from the state DEP, and will in turn lease the land to individual developers who will build such projects as a public golf course, a Science and Technology Center, an aquarium, and two full service marinas, all consistent with an existing master plan for the park. Approximately 83 million in state and federal funds have been used to date to develop about one-fifth of the park at its perimeter. The challenge is to get the first partnership project, a world class, full service, 600 slip marina, in place.
