Abstract:

In the last few years, North Carolina's coastal area has witnessed unprecedented growth. This paper focuses on selected conflicts associated with recreational and other economic uses of North Carolina's estuarine waters. It examines how North Carolina is attempting to manage water use conflicts - reviewing both local and state initiatives. It concludes with some suggestions for a more comprehensive management strategy.
