Municipality of Metropolitan Seattle West Point Beach Restoration

by Ralph S. Domenowske, Municipality of Metropolitan, Seattle, Seattle, WA, USA,

Document Type: Proceeding Paper

Part of: Coastal Zone '87

Abstract:

There are many ways to manipulate shorelines to prevent erosion. Such efforts often reduce the usable habitat and recreational area associated with the beach. Construction of a natural appearing beach like condition in some cases can accomplish the same stabilization with greater opportunities for intertidal habitat and recreational use. This paper discusses a successful application of these principles at West Point in Seattle, Washington.
