Abstract:
In a study funded by the U. S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), in cooperation with the U. S. Fish and Wildlife Service (FWS), seventeen 1:24,000 scale maps using U. S. Geological Survey quadrangles as a base were produced from color infrared and black and white photography for three dates; the mid-1950's, 1976-1977, and 1985. The wetlands and uplands were delineated using the National Wetlands Inventory classification and a modified Anderson uplands scheme. These maps have been digitized and analyzed at the National Wetlands Research Center (NWRC) of the FWS using a Geographic Information system. A general habitat map will be produced for the three dates used. The results of this study can be used to facilitate EPA's review of environmental impact statements and review of dredge and fill permit.
