Abstract:

Targets of the 'Ports and Harbours Toward the 21st Century' program for port and harbour development and improvement include: Target I, Creation of comprehensive port space, and Target II, Promotion of networking of ports and harbours, and has set forth the measures for achieving the foregoing targets and indicated new paradigms which are required for executing the measures. This paper discusses various program components, including port space creation, distribution terminals, port freeway and connecting piers, and others.
