Abstract:

This book contains the papers presented at the technical session titled Seismic Evaluation of Lifeline Systems?Case Studies at the ASCE Fall Convention in Boston, October 27-31, 1986. The session was a follow-up to an early effort on presenting the current research results on lifeline earthquake engineering around the world. Three papers from the United States deal with case studies in Boston, the Crystal Springs Reservoir outlet system in San Francisco, and the risk analysis for the Molelumne Aqueduct in California. Three papers from China deal with seismic damage analysis and its aseismic measures of sewer pipelines, seismic evaluation of several lifeline systems including above and below ground lifelines, and retaining structures in liquified regions.

Subject Headings: Lifeline systems | Seismic tests | Seismic effects | Case studies | Risk management | Retaining structures | Structural analysis | United States | Boston | Massachusetts | California | China | Asia
