Abstract:

Most land use planning techniques focus on large metropolitan areas, with relatively little attention paid to smaller communities. Recent issues such as nuclear power plant location, water resource and recreational facility management all impact rural as well as urban lands. The papers in this book address these issues and discuss protection of resources, nuclear power planning for seismic risk zones, land use allocation, facility location, and urban/rural land use conflicts.

Subject Headings: Land use | Urban and regional development | Water-based recreation | Water resources | Urban areas | Seismic effects | Recreational facilities
