Document Type: Proceeding Paper

Part of: Urban Runoff Quality: Impact and Quality Enhancement Technology

Abstract:

Urban stormwater runoff contaminants affect the principal receiving water uses of: (1) public water supply, (2) recreation, (3) protection of aquatic life forms, (4) agricultural and industrial water supply, and (5) groundwater protection in diverse ways. Through exploration of impacts to aquatic ecosystems, the paradoxes and uncertainties of the urban runoff quality phenomenon become apparent. Key questions must be answered when assessing the impacts of urban runoff constituents on receiving water uses.
