Abstract:

The objective of this paper is to introduce an IBM/PC/XT/AT microcomputer program for the Bearing Capacity Analysis of Shallow Foundations. The program incorporates the bearing capacity equations and factors as suggested by G. G. Meyerhof and A. S. Vesic. The article presents the equations and analytical procedures utilized by the program and examples of the user-friendly data entry forms capabilities. Strip, rectangular, square, or circular foundations on one or two layer soil systems can be analyzed, and the effects of foundation embedment, inclined and eccentric loads, sloping ground surface, and surcharge are considered.
