Abstract:

The Construction Management system has developed to the point where all Construction Management tools are available to the industry. These tools fall into the general categories of computer systems, documents and techniques, people and the organization, and the CM Industry Associations. Firms practicing Construction Management can either develop their own tools, hire specialty organizations to assist in development of tools, or purchase many of them on the marketplace. While all these basic tools and their variations are available, how they are combined and utilized is what sets one Construction Management firm apart from the other. Ultimately, each individual firm is responsible for providing the correct combination of tools in a format under which it can effectively function. Purchasing and assembling Construction Management tools into a program doesn not a successful organization make. The key to success lies in how each individual CM organization is structured.
