Abstract:
On the grounds of gross negligence, misconduct and fraudulent misrepresentation, Administrative Law Judge James B. Deutsch recommended that the licenses for the Kansas City Hyatt be revoked or suspended. The engineers have appealed the findings on several grounds. A brief summary of the design and construction of the Hyatt Regency is given. The judges findings are summarized. A structural engineer presents his viewpoint on the case. Implications for the civil engineering profession are covered.
