Abstract:

This paper describes the application of the boundary element method to determine the steady state response of vertically loaded floating piles in a non-homogeneous medium in which the the soil modulus increases linearly with depth. Non-dimensional plots showing results of parametric studies are presented, a simplified spring and dash-pot model developed and its application illustrated by an example.
