Abstract:

This paper describes the procedures used to compute the transport capabilities of existing canals and the process for predicting sediment deposition that will occur at or near the modified section. Two case studies are described in which the addition of moving screens has or will result in canal section changes and increased sediment deposition. The predicted versus experienced sedimentation is compared for both case studies. A computer model has been developed to aid in the prediction of canal sedimentation.
