Abstract:

Through engineering studies the Harris County Flood Control District (HCFCD) has identified a feasible regional flood control project which can be constructed with local funding and would eliminate the need for onsite stormwater detention on individual tracts. The objective of the regional flood control project is to maximize the use of the existing concrete lined channel, eliminate the existing 100-year flood plain in the upper portion of the watershed, reduce the number of stormwater detention facilities, and provide a plan for full development of the remainder of the watershed without a reoccurrence of downstream flooding.
