Abstract:

In this study, a mathematical model which can predict erosion from a watershed and incorporated into an optimization model has been investigated. The Erosion-Deposition Model (EDM), which uses a two dimensional analysis and single storm values of rainfall and runoff to compute erosion and sediment transport for that storm, was used in conjunction with a search technique to find near optimal location of a sediment pond. With this new approach, it will be possible to locate and size the sedimentation ponds for controlling erosion.
