Coupling Free Vortex Energy Dissipation with Sediment Control

Abstract:

The paper reports on studies showing that sediment control down to the abrasive limit of 30 micron sand and energy dissipation can be achieved simultaneously with a Teacup free vortex solids classifier. Case studies have demonstrated that sediment removed by the Teacup is easily disposed of due to excellent classification from organic solids. Peak sediment control occurs at peak flow conditions in the Teacup when sediment loads per unit volume throughflow are greatest.
