Abstract:

Engineering design of a small hydro project is often considered to be straightforward. Many potential developers assume that the engineering effort can be reduced to 'typical' designs which do not require specific expertise. However, as will be shown, each potential project is unique and requires unique design features and specialized engineering capabilities. There is no such thing as a 'typical' small hydro project.
