by H. Kirk Willard, Lockheed Missiles & Space Co, Sunnyvale, CA, USA,

Document Type: Proceeding Paper

Part of: Environmental Engineering

Abstract:

The continuous generation of hundreds of thousands of gallons of hazardous wastewater and waste process solutions each year at an aerospace development and assembly plant at Lockheed Missiles and space company led to design and construction of an on-site hazardous waste surface impoundment. Effective planning included consideration of compatibility of the type of waste and facility materials, design of waste handling contingencies, and of detailed operation plans. The article describes the activities carried out and results obtained in the project.
