Abstract:

This paper presents recommended practices for design and operation of multiple-hearth and fluid bed furnace systems for combustion of sludges in order to eliminate or mitigate the problems encountered. It addresses process and equipment descriptions, operational characteristics, process selection and application information, common problems and solutions, and design and operational considerations related to incineration of sludge.
