Abstract:

This paper discusses the removal efficiency of standard treatment processes for each of the four groups of contaminants. The evaluation of a process's capability to meet the revised drinking water regulations is based on bench, pilot, and full-scale studies reported in available literature. Also, facility and operating modifications to maximize removal efficiency are reviewed. The laboratory, pilot plant, and full-scale plant data and information presented in this series do provide a guide for selecting the best treatment method and operating condition, and for determining probable removal ranges for each contaminant.
