Abstract:

The contaminated well field program initiated by the NJDEP has proven effective in enabling a rapid response to a wide variety of water supply and groundwater contamination problems as they occur. Concurrent with the remedial action, the State has been investigating the source of the contamination in order to identify the responsible parties. Once the responsible parties have been identified, the State will negotiate for reimbursement of the expended funds. The article describes different alternatives for tackling water supply contamination problem.
