Improving Maintenance Performance

by Robert E. Young, Emerson Consultants Inc, New York, NY, USA,

Document Type: Proceeding Paper

Part of: Ports '86

Abstract:

This discussion concerns Maintenance Management concepts that emphasize how the human element among Port personnel can be organized and efforts channeled so as to: increase the actual level of maintenance efforts applied to Port equipment and facilities; and provide for the control and reduction of Port maintenance costs over the long term. To achieve these two ends, Port Executive Management must know how Port Maintenance ought to function and how to gauge the results actually achieved. This paper illustrates some ways that the Maintenance Management process might be applied.
