Abstract:

To achieve an increase in refining capacity from 70,000 barrels per day to 170,000 barrels per day, a local oil refining company entered into an agreement with the Port of Singapore Authority (PSA) to study the feasibility of installing a Single Point Mooring (SPM) Terminal to off-load crude oil from VLCCs to the refinery. This paper describes the feasibility studies, design and installation of an SPM System which was installed in November 1980 within a period of 18 months.
