Abstract:

This paper addresses the methodology for determining the response of a structure modelled as single-degree-of-freedom system whose mass, damping and stiffness parameters are known only approximately. A methodology is developed for obtaining the response of a random system to steady state harmonic and transient excitations. Analytical expressions have been obtained to yield these responses. Comparisons with Monte Carlo simulations are shown to be very good.
