Abstract:

Manufacture, storage and transportation of chemicals capable of exploding at energy levels comparable to TNT has increased in recent years. Land areas adjoining such facilities and transportation routes are now more densely populated and people in these areas are at a higher risk than previously. This paper focuses on these problems and suggests solutions so that the potential for damaging effects can be considered and mitigated by planners in the vicinity of hazardous facilities and transportation routes.
