Abstract:

This study was made to investigate the feasibility of expert systems for solving certain engineering problems. A prototype system was developed to demonstrate the applicability of these methods to the solution of typical design flood estimation problems. It is concluded that over the long term, this type of approach to building problem-solving models of the real world results in models that are easier to develop and maintain than conventional computer programs.
