Abstract:

Discussed is the tunnel closure prediction of a drainage tunnel using finite element methods. Separately, three finite element programs were used to predict the closure. The results of the prediction analysis were compared with those of actual closure measurements. There were significant differences between the measured and predicted values. The possible reasons for the differences are enumerated in this article.
