Abstract:

Design of continuous prestressed concrete girders with possibility of parabolically varying depth in each span is formulated in the form of a mathematical programming problem. The design variables are prestressing force and section variables. The objective is to minimize the construction cost. The paper presents the details of problem formulation. A numerical example is presented.
