Abstract:

This paper deals with modeling the operation of two reservoirs in tandem in order to determine energy gain at the downstream plant due to the regulation provided by the upstream reservoir. This is carried out by simulating the actual operation of the downstream reservoir and powerplant system as the base condition and the theoretical operation of the reservoir plant system with the removal of the upstream reservoir as the other condition. Consequently, the difference in energy generation between the two conditions is then calculated and termed as energy gain, which is attributable to the regulation of the reservoir upstream. Results are discussed.
