Abstract:

HYPOS (Hydro Power Scheduling) is a modification of the program HYPO as presented at Waterpower 81. HYPOS is an interactive system which allows schedulers to assign hourly power generation requirements to each reservoir in a given basin and analyze the basin response before actual assignments are sent to plant operators. It allows the scheduler a 'hands on' system in which to check his generation schedules and to improve the system efficiency and schedulers response through the use of computer simulation. The system is now being evaluated by Niagara Mohawk personnel using the basins under their jurisdiction. Generation and system responses have been validated for most of the basins and the system will be in full use in the near future. Refs.
